Many of the Christians who live here in the United States have no idea just how good they have it. Sure, we get made fun of for our faith. Yes, there are some who end up losing their job, losing relationships with friends or family members. And that’s definitely hard to deal with. However, we have not yet suffered unto the point of shedding blood as the Scriptures say.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of places around the world where being a Christ follower can mean the forfeiture of your life. This is what happened to a family that recently converted to the faith in Chhattisgarh, India, who were then the victims of a brutal attack that left one woman dead.
Check out more details from The Christian Post:
On Monday, 22-year-old Bindu Sodhi and her family were preparing their field to sow rice when they were assaulted by a group of religious fanatics that included members of her extended family. Sodhi’s mother, brother and younger sister escaped the attackers, but she was captured, repeatedly stabbed to death and left in the field.
Her family filed a complaint with the police, but sources say a case has yet to be officially registered. Sodhi’s body remains in the local morgue as her family awaits further proceedings.
Christian leaders speaking out against the violence report that atrocities committed against believers in Chhattisgarh state have reached alarming levels. They say the police have taken no action in the murder of Christians but have detained dozens of people insisting on a burial for Sodhi.
“We met with the police chief, were told he would look into it, but the stunning reality is that Christians have been detained daily,” a local Christian activist stated. “The order for protection of Christians has little to no impact. The situation is terrible.”
This attack is just one of many that has taken place against Christians in the area. Back on June 12, 2024, there were a total of seven Christian families from a nearby village that were assaulted. Then, in May, another Christian died after being severely beaten and stabbed. His assailants then buried his body.

Local Christian leaders added that Hindu mobs surround known Christian areas, accompanied by government officials, then assault them for refusing to forsake their faith. Many of those attacked have been women and children, and one youth remains in the hospital due to his injuries.
What is driving these horrific attacks against people of the faith? The ideology of Hindutva, which wants to transform all of India into a Hindu nation. I know what you’re thinking. There’s such a thing as Hindu extremism? Yes, there is. And part of this is Anti-Christian sentiment. Hundreds of Christians have died and more than 200 tribes have been annihilated.
Pray for those who have been suffering persecution around the world.
