Wonder Years actress Danica McKellar, who played the role of Winnie Cooper on the popular 80s/90s television show, revealed recently how her faith in Jesus Christ has impacted her parenting skills and abilities and improved them for the better. She went on to explain that she used to be very anxious and stressed out about how to handle all the various struggles that come along with raising children. But after converting to Christianity several years ago, the Lord has worked on her heart and given her a whole new perspective.
He does that a lot, doesn’t He? The Holy Spirit always knows exactly what part of our souls need work to be conformed to His image and just when the right time to produce those changes comes along.
“Faith guides everything, including parenting,” McKellar stated. “For me, my faith journey has led me to the most comforting place of knowing that I can consult with God at any time,” she then explained, describing the otherworldly peace that comes from trusting in God.

McKellar further described how reading the word of God has completely changed her life. “This is so comforting to me to have this other guiding force in my life,” she said. “When Bible scripture is mentioned in church, I know what it is now.”
The actress outlined how a rock solid foundation centered around God can carry one through any period of struggle. “Having that relationship, having that faith, means that when trials and tribulations happen, because they still happen … knowing it’s in God’s hands, means that even when things happen that I don’t think I want to have happen, I can say ‘well let me be curious about this and wonder what the big plan is that I can’t see,’” she said.
“It’s incredible what that perspective shift does for you,” McKellar said. “It’s been an amazing journey … since I found the Lord.” She continued, “It changed my life. I don’t know what happened. Some people say the Holy Spirit came to me. All I know is that I knew I became a believer, and it was the most wonderful, transformative moment.”

Earlier this year, McKellar recounted her coming to faith in Jesus Christ and her experience when the Holy Spirit came over her and completely changed her life moving forward. “It changed my life,” McKellar said. “I don’t know what happened.”
The actress then said, “Some people say the Holy Spirit came to me. All I know is that I knew I became a believer, and it was the most wonderful, transformative moment. I was flooded with this knowingness, and I have such peace from that still after two years, and I’m so grateful for it.”
McKellar also shared on social media how reading the Bible has changed her outlook on things. “Every day for over a year now, I’ve listened to this incredible woman’s voice, guiding me through my Bible Journey,” McKellar expounded. “… For anybody looking to deepen (or start!) a journey through the Bible, I can’t recommend @thebiblerecap highly enough as a beautiful & clarifying guide.”
