Rock and roll legend, Alice Cooper, is probably one of the last people you would expect to be an on fire Christian spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ far and wide all across the world. But that’s what makes the grace of God so amazing. He can save anyone and use them for His own glory. Like how he took the Apostle Paul, a major persecutor of the Christian church, and transformed him into one of its leading proponents who ended up writing close to two-thirds of the New Testament.
According to a report by The Christian Tribune, Cooper recently stated that there’s only way to attain salvation and that’s through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who do not have Jesus at the center of their lives are lost. Clearly, this guy understands the Bible’s message. What an unusual vessel for the Lord to use. It’s glorious.
“If we don’t all revolve around Christ, then we’re way out in space somewhere,” the rock legend said. “He draws you in. He’s the light.” Cooper, 76, added, “You’re drawn to that light, and it’s nothing you can explain in words. You know, it’s something that happens to your heart, where all of a sudden you realize who this is and you realize, ‘…I don’t…I’m not worthy of this.’”
Cooper asserted that despite each and every one of us being unworthy of Christ’s salvation, He still knew our names and died on the cross for our sins. “Being hung on the cross, He knew your name. He knew my name,” the singer continued. “And that made me go, ‘How can I not believe in this?’” The famous singer pointed out that surrendering to Christ kickstarts a process of sanctification, stating, “He changes your heart. Now he didn’t say, ‘And now that you’re a Christian, you can no longer be in rock and roll.’ His plan was, now you’re a Christian, go be in a rock and roll band but follow me. Be Alice Cooper.”
Addressing the common misunderstanding of Christian doctrine, that of legalism which claims people must earn their salvation through works, Cooper added, “People have a very warped view of Christianity. They think it’s all very precise and we never do wrong and we’re praying all day and we’re right wing.” He also pointed out there is nothing inherently contradictory between rock music and Christianity. “There’s nothing in Christianity that says I can’t be a rock star,” he said.
“…He has total control over everyone’s life,” Cooper went on to explain. “People aren’t feeling fulfilled by how many cars they own or the size of their stock portfolio. Even the addicts are saying, It doesn’t matter how many drugs I take, I’m not fulfilled. This isn’t satisfying. There’s a spiritual hunger going on.”
In previous comments, Cooper said of Christ, “He’s the core of everything. He’s life itself. He’s the light, you know? I mean, it’s if we don’t all revolve around Christ, and we’re way out from space somewhere, he draws you in.”
