While wokeness appears to finally be dying a slow death in the United States, other nations infected by the mind virus are going the exact opposite direction. A good case in point is Sutton Council in south London, which recently informed its workers to stop asking for people’s “Christian” names. Instead, they want them to use the terms, “first name, forename, or given name.” The council also told staff members to toss out other religious or sex-based terms.
According to The Christian Post:
Officials at Sutton Council have told employees they should no longer ask members of the public for their “Christian” name, according to The Telegraph. Instead, the council’s staff are advised to use “first name, forename, or given name” in a new 13-page document that focuses on “inclusive” language. The guidance issued by the council, run by the Liberal Democrats, states that references to religion should be avoided unless the topic in question demands it, The Sun reported.
The document also advises council workers to avoid language that could be labeled as ageist, including refraining from using “youngsters” for those younger than 30 or “pensioners” for individuals over 65. The direction is part of a larger recommendation against labels such as “mature workforce” or “vibrant team,” which the council contends can unintentionally offend or exclude.
The guide, which was put together by so-called “diversity experts,” says that by using what they label “incorrect or outdated language” employees are helping to contribute to or cause prejudice and discrimination. So asking for a person’s Christian name is causing discrimination? Really? Sounds ridiculous to me.
The guide also urges employees to eliminate gender-specific words like “manpower,” recommending “workforce” instead. Meeting leaders are instructed to be referred to as the “chair” rather than “chairman.” The council recommends this as a way to align daily interactions with an evolving standard of “inclusivity.”
Founder of the Free Speech Union, Toby Young, slammed the document, going on to say, “THis is woke hyper-sensitivity taken to ridiculous lengths. I’ve never met a Jew or a Muslim or an atheist offended by the words ‘Christian name.'”
Officials with Sutton Council clarified that this is guidance and is not a mandatory policy.
“We have not banned the word Christian. Our inclusive language guide has been created in collaboration with our staff to help them support our balanced and diverse community,” a council spokesperson was quoted as saying. “Most forms that British residents are asked to complete refer to first name and surname, so our guide reflects common usage today.”
This isn’t the first directive of this kind to be introduced by local governments in the British capital.
Hackney Council published a 17-page guide that tells its workers to stop using “Sir/Madam” and using greetings such as “Dear colleagues.” They also suggested referring to those with child as “people who become pregnant” instead of the term “expected mothers.” Give me a break. Listen, only women can give birth. It’s a biological fact. No amount of mental delusion can change this very scientific fact. Therefore, a person who is pregnant is a woman and an “expected mother.”

Westminster Council, which was nicknamed “Wokeminster” by its own chief executive after decorating a major shopping area with trans-inclusive pride flags, has reportedly issued similar guidelines.
Let’s hope the rest of the world experiences the awakening we are currently undergoing and will put an end to wokeness before it rots their societies to the core.
