Late Tuesday evening, President Donald Trump got on Truth Social and took an opportunity to torch the “so-called bishop” who he said politicized the National Prayer Service by preaching a message in which she — yes, the bishop is a woman, despite all of the biblical prohibitions on women being leaders in the church in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition — begged him to “have mercy” on both illegal migrants and transgender children. When your church breaks away from legitimate authority and oversight, interpreting the Bible all on their lonesome, you can expect this sort of insanity to become common place.
According to The Daily Wire, the president’s post was in response to a sermon by Episcopal Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, who said that illegal migrants are scared of Trump and his new administration. Trump has promised that while in office he is going to launch a massive deportation operation to send illegal immigrants back to their countries of origin and secure the southern border to ensure others don’t make their way here.
“The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical Left hard line Trump hater. She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way. She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart,” Trump went on to say on in his post.
During the message, Budde said, ,“And the people, the people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat-packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals, they may not be citizens or have the proper documentation. But the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes and are good neighbors. They are faithful members of our churches.”
“I ask you to have mercy, Mr. President, on those in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away, and that you help those who are fleeing war zones and persecution in their own lands, to find compassion and welcome here,” she then stated.
Trump responded to Budde’s lecture by saying that she was ignoring the number of illegal immigrants who had killed American citizens.
“She failed to mention the large number of illegal migrants that came into our Country and killed people. Many were deposited from jails and mental institutions,” he said. “It is a giant crime wave that is taking place in the USA. Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology!”
Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration has begun as he declared an emergency at the border, designated drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, and shut down the CBP One App parole program.
Budde has a history of criticizing Trump and blasted him years ago after he used riot police to clear leftist protestors out of the area surrounding the White House, even saying that his message was “antithetical to the teachings of Jesus and everything that we as a church stand for.”
The Bible plainly teaches that a woman should not be placed in a position of authority over a man. Budde and the Episcopal Church are in error for doing just that. The heresy they preach from the pulpit is leading souls away from Christ and the established doctrines and dogmas of the church that have been taught from the very beginning. They both need to repent and follow Christ or suffer consequences under the judgment of a holy, righteous God who refuses to be mocked.
