Over the course of the weekend, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took an opportunity to take a verbal blow torch to Democratic Rep. Dave Min of California who referred to her as a “fake Christian” on social media platform X just a month ago.
“I think it’s pitiful for an elected member of Congress to say that about a woman who he’s never even met,” Leavitt remarked on the congressman’s comment. This whole thing started because Leavitt sported a cross necklace during her first press briefing.
To be honest, I don’t think someone like Min, who belongs to a party that full-on celebrates the murderous sacrifice of unborn children through abortion has any right to tell someone else they are a bad Christian. Just my two cents on it.
“My Christian faith is a huge part of my life,” she said in comments to the New York Post. “My faith, my marriage, my family life — it’s everything to me.”
“Leavitt’s dispute with Min dates to a Jan. 29 tweet regarding an Office and Management and Budget memo,” The Western Journal reported.
“This is NOT a rescission of the federal funding freeze. It is simply a rescission of the OMB memo. Why? To end any confusion created by the court’s injunction. The President’s EO’s on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented,” the press secretary went on to write.

Min tried to take Leavitt’s faith and use it against her, claiming she was lying, then going on to launch an assault against the whole Trump administration in a rather crass way.
“‘Thou shalt not bear false witness…’ @PressSec Karoline Leavitt is a Fake Christian, like so many in this Golden Calf administration,” Min stated on social media. “Thou shalt not murder…” Rep. Min. See? Two can play that game.

You can call someone a liar, but when you go the extra mile and insult them deeply, personally, by stating they don’t truly practice their faith, that they’re somehow phony, that’s crossing a line.
Now, to be fair, we can’t really declare who has a genuine faith in Christ and who doesn’t. A person can look like a believer on the outside, doing all the right things, but be totally spiritually dead on the inside. We do not know the heart. We cannot make that assumption.
“It is not for us to say who, in the deepest sense, is or is not close to the spirit of Christ. We do not see into men’s hearts. We cannot judge, and are indeed forbidden to judge,” C.S. Lewis wrote in “Mere Christianity.”
As Jesus taught in the gospels, a person should remove the log from their own eye before attempting to remove the speck from their brother’s. Min needs to be concerned about his own soul and salvation rather than insulting someone else’s to score a political point.
