President Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, ripped Pope Francis apart over his hypocrisy concerning the issue of border security. Homan is not the kind of guy who takes it easy on those he feels are in the wrong, and clearly, that’s how he feels about the pope, so the tongue lashing was considerable.
Homan’s comments were made on Tuesday morning while he was standing outside the White House after a reporter asked him to weigh in on his thoughts about the Pope’s criticism of the president’s immigration and border security policies.
“What is built on the basis of force, and not on the truth about the equal dignity of every human being, begins badly and will end badly,” the Pope went on to write while opposing U.S. federal immigration laws.
He then went on to say, “I exhort all the faithful of the Catholic Church, and all men and women of good will, not to give in to narratives that discriminate against and cause unnecessary suffering to our migrant and refugee brothers and sisters.”
First off, a nation has laws. Those laws, as long as they do not violate the Word of God, are to be obeyed by Christians. It says so in Romans13:7. Therefore, these individuals who are crossing the border illegal are violating our laws. By doing so they are putting American citizens in danger and providing financial support for cartels.
The cartels make drugs they smuggle through illegals crossing the border that harm and even kill American addicts. Since one of the two summaries of the law is to love your neighbor as yourself, how are we doing that by allowing illegals to flood the country and kill Americans?
“Homan responded to the Pope’s remarks by saying that he should focus on fixing the Catholic Church and not worry about U.S. border policy,” The Christian Tribune reported.

“The Pope ought to fix the Catholic Church,” he fired back. “I’m saying this is a lifelong Catholic, baptized Catholic.”
He then added that Pope Francis should concentrate on his work and leave border enforcement to us.”
“He wants to attack us from securing our border?” Homan stated. “He’s got a wall around the Vatican, does he not? So he’s got a wall around to protect his people and himself, but we can’t have a wall around the United States?”
The border czar then added, “So I wish he’d stick to the Catholic Church and fix that and leave border enforcement to us.”
And I think he’s absolutely correct on that. If Pope Francis wants to issue any sort of spiritual guidance on this topic, it should be that Christians treat those illegal migrants who are here with dignity, kindness, and respect, caring for their needs as best they can. However, we should also be cheering on ICE and other agencies in deporting lawbreakers back home.
