Chip Gaines, who rose to fame with the hit reality television series, “Fixer Upper,” has really ticked off a lot of his fans this week after he made what many have labeled an “out-of-touch” comment concerning money. I mean, is there anything a person can say these days that doesn’t press some insecure individuals buttons on the internet? It seems like that’s the whole reason social media exists sometimes.
According to Kay Smythe of The Daily Caller, the whole matter seems to be a huge misunderstanding, which, again, sums up the vast majority of kerfuffles that unfold on the internet, as readers seemingly took the comment Gaines made out of context. I know, I know. How can such a thing happen on that digital land of peace and tranquility known as X? I was astounded as well. Folks are usually so reasonable on that platform….
In a back-and-forth that seemed to be something to do with sports (it is unclear and largely irrelevant), Chip wrote “money is boring … everybody’s got money. We’ve got God on our side!”

It took what seemed like just minutes before someone, who seemed like the absolute token bot, to jump down Gaines’ throat.
“You’re tweet is tone deaf to all the suffering because people don’t have money. The Bible teaches us to have empathy & charity to those less fortunate,” replied a user who must have been blowing steam out of their ears. “God appreciates prayers, he appreciates actions w/humility more. At least that my King James version.”
“He and his wife are affiliated with a mega ‘Bible Church’ in Waco, TX that hates [LGBTQ] and [people of color],” stated another brilliant mind on the platform, despite the fact Joanna Gaines herself is of mixed heritage. There were a lot more comments like that on the post as you probably imagined.

Gaines is known for his brash and often off-the-cuff commentary. Any viewers of his show probably understand the vein in which his comment was made. On its own, it doesn’t sound good. But if you have enough time to complain about misunderstanding a reality star on Twitter, you probably have plenty of time to work.
In this day and age, the vast majority of the progressives who actually live in our culture are looking for any reason possible to trash Christians, especially those who have been good stewards of the gifts, skills, and talents God has given them.
Part of the problem is folks today want something for nothing. They don’t want to put in the effort to work hard, develop a unique skill or talent and apply themselves to become successful. Everyone wants a cushy office job, thus, everyone goes to college and thus tons of people are all competing for a very small portion of positions that are available in the market.
The smartest choice would be to seek out a trade, like, oh, I don’t know, construction, remodeling homes, or plumbing — kind of like the work Chip Gaines does that has made him wealthy — and taking a job in one of those fields. There are plenty of these jobs available, which means competition is low. And most people who work in skilled-labor fields end up making a lot of money. More than you’d make in an office building.
