In a shocking display of pure, unadulterated blasphemy, actress Cynthia Erivo, who played the role of Elephaba in the film adaptation of “Wicked,” will now be playing the part of Jesus in upcoming performances of the musical, “Jesus Christ Superstar.” The show is set to be held at the Hollywood Bowl this summer.
This is what happens when wokeness is allowed to run amok. Jesus was a man. In fact, He is called the God-Man, because He is the second person of the Trinity who took on human flesh in order to ransom His people from the power and penalty of their sins.
It’s critical that Jesus be played by a biological male. In the Scriptures, it was Adam, a male, who plunged the world into sin and death. Only a male, a priest, can sacrifice himself on behalf of sinners and redeem the world. To suggest otherwise is blasphemous.
Shows are set for August 2025. As of this writing, the rest of the cast has not been announced.
Erivo posted a caption on Instagram Stories concerning the announcement which read, “Just a little busy this summer. Can’t wait.” On an all-female concept album called “Jesus Christ Superstar: She Is Risen,” from 2020, Erivo played the part of Mary Magdalene.
“The ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ was initially released as a concept album in 1970 before it debuted on Broadway in 1971. It tells the story of ‘Jesus Christ’s final days, focusing on the complex relationship between Jesus and his disciple-turned-betrayer, Judas Iscariot,’ the outlet noted,” according to The Daily Wire.

The musical’s debut this summer will be the first musical at the Hollywood Bowl since the days of the pandemic when the venue was shutdown.
“We missed the musicals for a few years, and I think that one is a good one to return with,” L.A. Phil President and Chief Executive Kim Noltemy said in an interview with the Times. “Whether it be staffing or psychological transition, we needed time to get back up to running like the machine we can be when everything’s going well.”
Folks on social media were not exactly thrilled with the announcement. Nor should they be considering how blasphemous this casting is. Actor Nick Searcy, an open conservative in Hollywood, wrote in a post on X, “Hollywood is just trolling us now…”
Todd Starnes, host on Newsmax, stated, “The Hollywood Bowl just hired a bald, black woman who identifies as queer to portray our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Cynthia Erivo will star in a revival of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar.’ Dude. WTH?!?”
And we wonder why our nation has been experiencing so many natural disasters and illnesses over the last five years? I have a pretty good idea that when you combine raging blasphemy with the blood of murdered pre-born children, you get a wrathful God.
Lord, have mercy on us.
