In the midst of tragedy, there is always a glimpse of hope. Per the Wise County Emergency Services Department, on Friday, a fire started at the Balsora Baptist Church in Bridgeport, Texas, leveling the structure and burning nearly everything within. After the fire was out and the dust cleared, the firefighters found a cross that was standing among the charred wreckage, unscathed.
A fire tore through a Texas church on Friday, leveling the building and destroying nearly everything inside – except for a cross ✝️ that was still standing among the charred debris. Miracle or not – you can decide – this is truly amazing. https://t.co/MTf4pkqS4W

Fox News had these details to share about the miraculous story:
“A devastating loss to our community, but a sight to behold,” the department said. “The fire took the structure, but not the cross. A symbol that the building was just that, a building. The Church is the congregation, and where 2 or more gather, there He shall be also.”
Extreme temperatures posed a challenge to the fire crew’s resources, prompting officials to request aid from at least 11 other local and state agencies, the department said. On Sunday, the church planned a gathering for prayer at 10 a.m. at the 3 Crosses in the Prayer Garden.
“The Cross that held our prayer request in the sanctuary was still standing! We praise God that He still answers prayers. We look forward to all He’s going to do at Balsora Baptist!” the church said in a statement.
Three people were injured because of the blaze but those injuries are not fatal. The injuries included minor burns from the fire and an injury that occurred by someone falling over the debris.
In a similar fashion in North Carolina when a hurricane ravished a community a miracle was hidden through the disaster.

Iredell County, North Carolina was hit by a major tornado that had winds of up to 115 miles per hour and traversed a distance of six miles, starting at Love Valley and ending in the western part of Union Grove. At approximately seven o’clock in the evening, a tornado with a width of approximately 150 yards passed through the town close to Tuckers Grove Road before moving in a northeasterly direction, breaking branches and uprooting trees.
The tornado traveled along several roads and destroyed trees in addition to causing damage to a mobile home and a barn, both of which had their roofs damaged. However, a group of crosses at an old Methodist church was not uprooted. There were also no serious injuries. My friends, the CROSS STILL STANDS, yesterday today, and forevermore!
Isaiah 59:19 says “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him”. No matter what’s going on in your life look at the cross and the resurrection of Jesus Christ to find your hope. When you look at the cross you are no longer focussing on the possible floods, fires, financial struggles, and relationship issues that may surround you but rather you are instead gazing at the hope that will keep you going.
Check out this worship song called the Cross Still Stands which fits this story well. If you can, just close your eyes and look at Jesus on the cross.
