Popular actor and podcast host Russell Brand, who recently converted to Christianity, provided his followers with an update concerning his journey with Christ, going on to chat about the joy he feels in his newly discovered faith. Brand took to X where he posted a video along with the caption, “What a glorious opportunity it is to be reborn in Him.”
“It is very difficult to accept and embrace the peace that surpasses all understanding,” Brand went on to say during a video he made in a car. “To know that within you always has been a connection that will guide you. It’s easy instead, to begin to rely on self, limited self. What an opportunity it is to be reborn, what a glorious gift it is to be reborn in Him. To know that in His eyes we are all redeemed and forgiven, that we are all equal, that we are all His children, that we can all be saved together and pursue our new purpose of service.”
Usually when you take a gander through the comment section on someone’s post — especially a person who has a major platform like Brand — you can expect to see the worst of humanity, but that wasn’t the case here. Users shared a number of encouraging, faith-based sentiments that were closely related to those made by the actor himself. One such statement was a passage of Scripture quoted from the King James Version of Romans 8:11 which says, “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
“Amen, Brother! “Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1: 8-9,” another user commented.

Earlier this year, Brand converted to Christianity, getting baptized and surrendering to Jesus Christ. The Christian Tribune previously reported on comments from Brand speaking about his baptism in which he described it as “an opportunity to die and be reborn; an opportunity to leave the past behind and be reborn in Christ’s name like it says in Galatians — that you can live as an enlightened and awakened person.”
Brand just nailed what it means to be baptized. Baptism is a sacrament. It actually does something to the believer who participates in the rite. An ontological change occurs as you forsake the world, the flesh, and the devil and identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through the Holy Spirit you enter union with Jesus. In something that mirrors the marriage relationship — this is an imperfect analogy so don’t worry, this isn’t gay people — when you are baptized and the Holy Spirit dwells in you, He connects you to Jesus, making you “one flesh” as if you were one being. His life becomes your life and vice versa. You don’t cease being you. But your will decreases and His increases. In reality, you become the real you by being in union with Christ.
Brand then went on to say, “I know a lot of people are sort of cynical about the increasing interest in Christianity and the return to God, but to me, it’s obvious. As meaning deteriorates in the modern world, as our value systems and institutions crumble, all of us become increasingly aware that there is this eerily familiar awakening and beckoning figure that we’ve all known all of our lives, within us and around us. And for me, it’s very exciting.”
“Many aspects of it were very intimate and personal. The truth is this, as a person who has in the past, taken many, many substances and always been disappointed with their inability to deliver the kind of tranquility and peace and even transcendence that I’ve always felt I’ve been looking for … something occurred in the process of baptism that was incredible; overwhelming,” he further elaborated.
“I feel as if some new resource within me has switched on.” He then said, “This is new for me, I’m learning … but this is my path now,” Brand said. “And I already feel incredibly blessed, relieved, nourished, held. It’s been an incredible experience. I’m so grateful to be surrendered in Christ,” he stated, concluding his thoughts.
