The world we live in has always been hostile to believers of Jesus Christ. Nothing has changed in thousands of years since the founding of our faith, the proof being the hatred that Olympic athletes from all around the world are receiving from secularists due to their coming together from various countries in order to praise and worship he Lord together. The good news, of course, is that none of this is stopping these amazing athletes from lifting God’s name, publicly, with zero fear and shame.
According to a report published by The Western Journal, Cindy Sember, a British Olympic hurdler, posted up a clip of eleven female Christian athletes meeting around a piano and singing praises to Christ on Instagram. Sember referred to the moment as “something truly special.” Perfect description. People from different nations and cultures, united together as one family thanks to their faith in Christ. The world needs much more of this. It’s the cure to our division. Being adopted by Jesus means that we become one people, though we don’t lose our unique cultural heritage and individual personalities.
“POV: You gather with other Christian Olympians in the athlete village to praise and worship God before competing,” she said in the caption for the video. Sember then said, “There is truly something special when Olympians from different countries come together and pray.G rateful to have found other believers in sport to truly glorify God together with. I promise you God moved when we started singing together. He is so good. Let this be your encouragement to pray and worship with others today. You’ll be amazed at what the Lord can do.”
Later in the caption, Sember included some of Jesus’ words as recorded in the Holy Bible.
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them,” she said, quoting Matthew 18:20.

I know a lot of people have decided to boycott the Paris 2024 Olympics due to the horrifying mockery they made of the Last Supper during the opening ceremony, but for those that have decided to tune in anyway, this was a beautiful moment to behold. Let’s hope they consider supporting Sember in her event and lifting up the name of Jesus alongside her for her athletic talent and for using her platform to spread His fame.
On Wednesday, the British hurdler finished second in her heat. Thus, she advanced to the semifinals on Friday. Better yet, she has made no secret of her Christian faith. Her most recent Instagram post is captioned “6 ways to prepare for competition as a Christian Athlete.”
“Whether you deal with pre-comp nerves or feelings of doubt right before competing, allowing God in will make such a huge difference,” she wrote.
While it can be easy to get discouraged due to how the masses seem to be under Satan’s control, eating up all of the twisted, pervertedness he’s spread around the world, don’t forget the final message of the Good Book: We win, because Jesus already won.
