Former NFL quarterback and extremely outspoken believer in Christ, Tim Tebow, provided an excellent explanation for how true freedom is found only in having faith in Jesus Christ and his atoning death on the cross for all mankind’s sins. Tebow went in-depth into this theological concept on social media, speaking about how Christ died to provide salvation for all who will believe. We need more public figures like Tebow out there reaching young men — and women too — with the gospel so we can expand the kingdom and see souls saved.
At the start of his message, Tebow read from Romans 8:1, which says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
“Guys, in Christ Jesus, we have been set free, so that now there is no condemnation,” Tebow added, according to The Christian Tribune. “The Creator of this universe, our Heavenly Father, is a just judge, but He’s also a loving father that knew that sin had to be paid for. My sin had to be paid for. And so He sent His son Jesus down to this earth to live a life that I couldn’t live, and He chose to die a death that I deserve to die.”
The former professional athlete further explained that the battle has already been one by the work of Christ, and His followers no longer have to live in condemnation. “That punishment was placed on Jesus, that condemnation was placed on Him, the guilty verdict was placed on Him so that when we believe in Him, we would be set free. Because His scars set me free. That punishment is now why we don’t have to sit in condemnation because it was placed on Jesus, our King, our Savior, our ransom. So we don’t have to live in condemnation. We get to live set free because of what Jesus has done for us,” he said.

In the past, Tebow has talked at length about how he turns to the Lord when things get tough, recounting advice he received from his mother. “One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever gotten, and it was from my mom…I’m young, playing sports and I’m very emotional…I would want to get interviewed. I would want to say thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, right? And she’d say, ‘Why don’t you say it when you lose, you know?’”

“Just say it in your head,” the former NFL star explained. “Say it in your disappointment after you have a bad play. Give it to the Lord. Like literally in that moment. He can handle it, you can’t. Give it to him.” Addressing challenging circumstances, Tebow said, “But you have to ask: what’s the lesson I’m supposed to learn from this? What does God want me to do from here? That’s how you keep from getting bitter.”
He finished by saying, “You’ll never silence the critics. There will always be people in your life who will underestimate your potential, say that you’ll never reach your dream or make that goal, or try to hold you back in some way. What God knows about us is more important than what others think.”
