Legendary MMA fighter and current UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, successfully defended his title over the weekend against another legend in the weight class, Stipe Miocic, knocking him out in the third round of the bout. During his post-fight speech inside the ring with popular podcast host and commentator Joe Rogan, Jones heaped praise upon the name of Jesus Christ.
“While everybody’s cheering and so happy, I want to acknowledge Jesus Christ,” he said, according to LifeSiteNews. “I cannot take credit for a gift like this, man. I really owe it all to Him.”

“I’m proud to be a great American champion. I’m proud to be a Christian American champion,” Jones continued in his speech.
Jon Jones did an impression of Trump's dance and then started a "USA! USA! USA!" chant.

Jones’ name always comes up when the conversation turns to fighters who might be considered the best of all time within the sport. And for good reason. His current record as a professional fighter is 21-1. The one is not a loss. It’s a no-contest. Let that sink in for a minute. He’s totally undefeated. His victory at Madison Square Garden was in front of a massive crowd that included President-elect Donald Trump, Tulsi Gabbard, Kid Rock, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, and others.
WOW. Bobby Kennedy, Tulsi Gabbard, Elon Musk, Dana White, Don Jr, and Eric Trump surround President Trump as they lead the entire MSG arena in chants of “USA! USA!” at UFC 309.

“I want to say a big, big thank you to President Donald Trump for being here tonight,” Jones went on to say to Rogan as the crowd erupted into chants of “USA! USA!”
Aside from earning him an invite to the White House by President Trump, Jones’ victory is being heralded as yet another important point in his life and career, as he has battled drug abuse and was charged with domestic abuse (which he accepted a plea deal on) in years past, in addition to various other run ins with the law.
UFC owner and fellow Trump supporter Dana White has said that Jones “has lots of demons,” referring to the fighter’s troubled past. Despite that, Jones, whose father is a Pentecostal minster, often expresses his religious beliefs in public. And he doubled down on them Saturday night.
“I know that there’s millions of people around the world watching right now, and I just want to let you guys know that Jesus loves you so much. That’s all I’ll say about that,” he said to Joe Rogan during the interview.

While it’s true Jones has had a rough past, it’s important to remember that until someone takes their dying breath and lives no more, they are not beyond the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. The MMA legend still has a lot of rough edges left, but God has been at work in his heart and how much progress he makes is up to the Lord. We as Jones’ brothers and sisters should be rooting for his sanctification and encouraging him to live faithfully to Jesus.
